We host monthly, quarterly and yearly contests.

MONTHLY

Writing Short Story Themes

Each month we host a contest with a specific theme.

One winner will be chosen in each of the following categories:

  • Non-Fiction
  • Fiction
  • Specialty (Children’s and Poetry)

Guidelines:

  • Must be your own original work
  • No restriction on genres (all are welcome)
  • Theme of the story must match the theme for the month
  • Must be between 2000-4000 words
  • Children’s stories must be 500-700 words
  • Poetry must include 5 poems (no haiku)

The winners will be announced the middle of the following month.

What do the Winners get?

  • January is Motivation Month
  • February is World History Month
  • March is World Culture Month
  • April is Creative Writing Month
  • May is Mental Health Awareness
  • June is Ocean Awareness Month
  • July is Children’s Theme
  • August is Disability Awareness Month
  • September is Our Planet Month
  • October is Occult Theme
  • November is National Novel Month
  • December is Fantasy Month

QUARTERLY

Novel-In-Process

Each quarter we host a contest for novels currently in progress.

All genres are welcome. Two winners will be chosen.

Guidelines:

  • Must be all original work
  • Must be an incomplete book (book in process)
  • Must contain at least 20,000 words
  • Must be submitted by the end of each Quarter (see below)

1st Quarter:

January-March
  • Entries must be in by March 31st
  • Winners will be announced Mid-April

2nd Quarter:

April-June
  • Entries must be in by June 30th
  • Winners to be announced Mid-July

3rd Quarter:

July-September
  • Entries must be in by September 30th
  • Winners will be announced Mid-October

4th Quarter:

October-December
  • Entries must be in by December 31st
  • Winners will be announced Mid-January

What do the Winners get?

  • Automatic placement in the running for the Yearly Get Published Contest
  • In-depth feedback from Publisher, Editor, and Book Designer
  • 750 points

YEARLY

Get Published

Each year we host a MAJOR contest for a chance at an Indie Publishing contract.

One winner will be chosen in each of the following categories:

  • Non-Fiction
  • Fiction
  • Specialty (Children’s and Poetry)

Guidelines:

  • Must be completed and all original work
  • Non-Fiction and Fiction must contain at least 30,000 words
  • Children’s books must be between 500-800 words
  • Poetry must contain a collection of 20-25 poems (no haiku)

All entries can be submitted between May 1st, 2019 and March 1st, 2020.

All winners will be decided by The Write Point team and announced in April 2020.

What do the Winners get?

  • Indie Publishing Contract with Hurn Publications
  • The Write Point Swag Bag
  • Social Media Launch Party (once the book is ready)
  • Free Book Cover Design
  • Author Highlight for the whole year at The Write Point and Hurn Publications until the new winners are announced for the next year
  • 2000 points

Honorable Mentions (3 people):

  • 1000 points
