3-things-to-ask-yourself

3 Things to Ask Yourself Before You Turn Your Hobby Writing into an Author Business

  • Is my writing any good?

This seems like an obvious question, I know. You like your writing so it must be good, right? But, do other people think it’s good too? Has anyone else read it? I mean, other than your spouse, best friend, or mom. I highly recommend getting feedback from strangers before going full steam ahead.

Getting beta readers to read your book can be a great way to see if your writing really is ready.

  • Do I know anything about running a business?

Your book is your product. You will have to learn as much as you can about running a product-based business. Though this shouldn’t stop you from starting that author business, just know that there is learning involved.

  • Am I ready to put in the work?

Owning a business is hard work! If it were easy everyone would have one. You should expect to spend time engaging with your readers on social media, adding fun and inspiring content to your website, promoting your book, and not to mention doing more of that writing.

If you answered yes to these 3 things, then you are closer to creating that successful author life you’ve been dreaming about.

Are you ready to turn your writing-as-a-hobby into writing-as-a-career?
